The Round Table were formed in the early 2020s by childhood friends Arthur Pendragon, Leon DeGrance and Elyan Smith. The group began as a small collaborative project between the three who shared an interest in live performance and songwriting. They were introduced to Lancelot du Lac in college and the french bassist joined their band. Percival joined shortly after the group’s formation as the drummer, completing the initial lineup. During the band’s early development, guitarist and vocalist Gwaine was introduced to the group and soon became a central creative force, establishing the lineup that would remain consistent in subsequent releases. In the band’s earliest period, songwriting responsibilities were largely shared among members, though Gwaine and Lancelot gradually emerged as the primary composers. The group’s visual identity was developed in parallel with their musical direction through the work of graphic designer Gwen Smith (page coming out July 10th), Elyan’s twin sister, who became closely involved with the project and creates much of the band’s artwork and promotional material. Gwen’s designs contributed to the medieval and myth-inspired aesthetic that would become closely associated with the band.During the band’s early years, Gwen introduced the group to Merlin Emrys (page coming out September 10th), a university student specializing in medieval history and literature. Through his academic background, Merlin became an informal collaborator and reference point for the band’s increasing use of medieval imagery, symbolism, and narrative themes. Members of the group have occasionally credited him with helping contextualize historical elements and motifs that appear in their lyrics and visual concepts. Over time, Merlin developed a particularly close creative relationship with guitarist and songwriter Gwaine, whose compositions frequently draw on the mythological and historical material Merlin studies. The two later became engaged. The Round Table released their debut album, Camelot, Baby!, in 2022 through Pengradon Records, an independent label founded by the band to distribute their work. The album attracted early attention from online music communities and independent media outlets, establishing the group’s reputation for blending contemporary alternative rock with lyrical themes drawn from medieval imagery and folklore.Following the unexpected visibility of their debut release, the band continued to expand their creative output. In 2023 they released their second full-length album, Fellowship, which further developed the mythological themes introduced in their debut while presenting a more cohesive musical style. Around this time, Morgana Pendragon(page coming out August 10th), Arthur’s sibling, began working with the group in a managerial capacity in the place of former manager Agravaine de Bois, their uncle, due to personal and financial issues, formalizing the band’s professional organization as their audience continued to grow. The band’s third album, Even in Avalon, was released in 2024 and marked a continuation of their thematic exploration of legend, symbolism, and narrative storytelling. The record further solidified the group’s identity within their genre and expanded their listener base beyond the independent music circuit. As of the present, The Round Table have been teasing a forthcoming double release, though details regarding the project remain limited.

Released on April 9, 2022, Camelot, Baby! is the debut studio album by The Knights of the Round Table. The album introduces the narrative framework that would later become a defining feature of the band’s work, presenting a loose conceptual storyline inspired by medieval chivalric journeys. The record follows a group of young knights at the beginning of their path, leaving behind their former lives in order to pursue the uncertain calling of knighthood. While the departure carries a sense of melancholy and sacrifice, the album’s tone remains largely hopeful, emphasizing movement, discovery, and the forging of companionship along the road. Throughout the narrative, the characters encounter challenges, unfamiliar landscapes, and moments of doubt, gradually forming bonds that evolve into a brotherhood. The journey ultimately leads to Camelot, which is portrayed not only as a destination but also as a symbol of belonging and shared purpose. By the album’s conclusion, the knights arrive at Camelot having transformed through their travels, united by the relationships and experiences that shaped their path.

Released on June 9, 2023, Fellowship (artwork coming out soon) is the second studio album by The Knights of the Round Table. Serving as a continuation of the narrative introduced in their debut record, the album depicts the knights after their arrival in Camelot, now fully integrated into the life and responsibilities of the court. The album adopts a notably more celebratory and energetic tone than its predecessor. Having completed their journey to Camelot, the characters are portrayed embracing the adventurous life of knighthood: embarking on quests, confronting dangerous creatures, protecting travelers and villages, and returning to the court to celebrate their victories. Throughout the record, themes of camaraderie and shared purpose are emphasized, highlighting the strong bonds between the knights and the sense of brotherhood that defines the group.Several songs within the album explore romantic themes, often framed through poetic or myth-inspired imagery. Many of these tracks are written from the perspective of longing, devotion, or admiration, with lyrics that draw on courtly love traditions. The album also marks the first time the band openly incorporates queer themes into its storytelling. Through metaphor and allegory, the songs suggest that the knights’ devotion and affection are not limited by traditional expectations, emphasizing the idea that chivalry and loyalty extend to all forms of love.Despite its predominantly upbeat tone, Fellowship closes on a more contemplative note. The album’s final two tracks introduce darker undertones and unresolved tensions, hinting at conflicts that will be explored more directly in the band’s subsequent release.

Released in 2024, Even in Avalon (artwork coming out soon) is the third studio album by The Round Table and represents a tonal shift in the band’s ongoing narrative arc. While the previous album depicted the optimism and camaraderie of newly established knights in Camelot, Even in Avalon explores the challenges that emerge after that initial period of triumph.Within the album’s conceptual framework, the knights face increasingly dangerous quests and adversaries, often symbolized through imagery of dragons and other formidable creatures. These encounters serve as metaphors for the growing pressures surrounding the group, including heightened public attention, scrutiny from critics, and the loss of personal privacy that accompanies their rising prominence. The album’s narrative presents these struggles as trials of character, asking whether the knights can remain true to their ideals while confronting obstacles far greater than those they faced before.Themes of personal conflict also play a significant role in the record. Several songs explore tensions within family relationships, particularly reflecting the difficulties surrounding Arthur’s strained relationship with his father, who had long opposed both Arthur’s career and his engagement to Gwen following the release of the band’s previous album. These tensions are woven into the album’s broader narrative of duty, expectation, and self-determination.Alongside its darker elements, Even in Avalon continues to emphasize love and solidarity as central themes. A number of tracks take the form of personal declarations, including songs written from Arthur’s perspective expressing devotion to Gwen. At the same time, Gwaine’s songwriting evolves noticeably compared to earlier albums: where his previous lyrics about Merlin were often characterized by longing or uncertainty, the songs on this record adopt a more openly affectionate tone following the beginning of their relationship. Despite the band’s continued grounding in heavier musical styles, these tracks introduce moments of warmth and tenderness within the album’s broader atmosphere.Taken as a whole, Even in Avalon balances themes of pressure, prejudice, and external conflict with an emphasis on resilience, community, and hope. The album portrays a group that, despite facing increasingly formidable trials, continues to rely on loyalty and love as guiding principles.

A Day at the Tournament and A Night at the Feast (artwork coming out soon) are the fourth and fifth studio albums by The Knights of the Round Table, scheduled for a joint release on October 9, 2026. The two records are presented as complementary works forming a double album, written and developed during a year-long hiatus taken by the band following the touring cycle of Even in Avalon.Although full details about the narrative and tracklists remain limited, the band has indicated that the project continues the conceptual storytelling established in their earlier releases. The paired albums are expected to explore two contrasting aspects of life at Camelot, using the imagery of the tournament and the royal feast as symbolic settings. Within the band’s ongoing medieval-inspired narrative framework, the tournament represents public trials of strength, honor, and reputation, while the feast reflects the social and political dynamics that unfold within the court.Early statements from the group suggest that the albums will address several themes that have gradually emerged throughout their discography. Among these are the aftermath of Arthur’s father’s death, questions of justice and responsibility, and the ways in which loyalty and brotherhood endure during periods of uncertainty and conflict. At the same time, the project is expected to continue the band’s exploration of love, identity, and community, which have become recurring motifs in their songwriting. As of now, the double release remains one of the band’s most anticipated projects, with fans speculating about how the two albums will expand the narrative universe introduced in Camelot, Baby! and developed through the subsequent records.
